– keep it simple, strategic, and full of heart
As a solo entrepreneur, social media can be your best friend—or your biggest overwhelm. When used with intention, it’s a powerful way to share your message, connect with your dream clients, and grow your business with ease. But without a little strategy? It can feel like shouting into the void.
Let’s break it down. Here are some friendly dos and don’ts to help you show up on social media in a way that feels aligned, authentic, and actually works:
✅ DO: Complete Your Profiles
Your social profiles are often the first impression someone gets of your brand—so make it count! Make sure your profile photo, bio, and links reflect your brand personality and speak clearly to what you do. Bonus points if you use the same branding across platforms to keep things cohesive and recognizable. ✨
❌ DON’T: Join Every Platform Just Because
Trying to be on all the platforms will only burn you out. Instead, choose 1–2 platforms where your audience hangs out and where you enjoy creating content. Less stress, more impact.

✅ DO: Share Engaging, Valuable Content
Show up consistently with content that helps, inspires, or connects. You can share helpful tips, behind-the-scenes peeks, mini tutorials, or little glimpses into your life as a business owner. Remember, people follow people—not just products. Let them get to know you.
❌ DON’T: Overshare or Spam
We’ve all seen it—accounts that post too much, too often, without real value. Posting 10 times a day (or selling in every post) isn’t the move. Instead, focus on quality over quantity. Find a schedule that works for you and be mindful about what—and when—you’re posting.
✅ DO: Use Platform Features Thoughtfully
Every platform has built-in features to help you grow. Use hashtags, reels, polls, stories, or link stickers to engage with your audience and encourage conversation. These tools are there to help you connect—don’t be afraid to explore them!
❌ DON’T: Assume You Know Everything About Your Audience
Your audience may not think, act, or scroll like you do—and that’s okay. Avoid assuming they know the same things you do. Instead, approach your content with empathy and clarity. Speak simply, explain thoughtfully, and always leave room for learning.
✨ Social Media Should Feel Like Connection, Not Pressure
When used with intention and care, social media becomes a cozy corner of the internet where your brand can shine. Use these dos and don’ts as a guide to stay grounded in what matters most: real people, real connection, and real growth—at your pace.
